BELTURBET CARNIVAL IN THE PARK – Friday July 8 th – Sunday July 10 th – Friday -

Some of Belturbet best known characters take on the persona of a superstar as they perform in Belturbet version of A Celebrity styled Eurovision presented by Mademoiselle de Bouvier and Monsieur de Depardue . You will be able to vote for your own favourite of twelve acts and make him/her the brightest Star in Belturbet's sky. It will be a night filled with fun and laughter and as with other years, it will be the talk of the town for weeks thereafter, so be sure not to miss it. There will then follow dancing until the wee hours with music from Brassroots. Saturday will be a day filled with fun for all the family with dancing late into the night with John O’Grady and the Shuck Dodgers.

 

Sunday will be a bigger than ever family fun day with a ceremony to commemorate 1916 and an exhibition of old census and records from that time for each street and townland and a Veteran's football match in 1916 outfits between old warriors not from 1916 on Sunday !

There will be THE BATTLE OF THE TOWNLANDS; NOVELTY TABLE QUIZ, with a table representing each Road, Lane, Street, Housing Estate, Business, Sports team etc. some areas may be able to have more than 1 table! This is your chance to show Pride of Place and battle it out together for your area. There will be Plaque for the winning table to display publicly in its area.

“Get Rhythm” – a Tribute to Johnny Cash’

 

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY – This Christmas ‘Get Rhythm” – a Tribute to Johnny Cash’ will perform its first home show in over two years in the Town Hall Civic Centre – Wednesday, December 30th, commencing @ 8.00 p.m. Paul McCann recreates the role of Johnny Cash and June Carter’s vocal duties are performed by Louise O’Reilly. Also performing in the band are Brendan Scott, Arnie McGovern, John Leddy, Blathnaid McCann and a very special guest appearance by Majella O’Reilly. Blueways Ireland project – workshop invitation

image006The Blueways Ireland project is a national water and land based multi-activity trail including food, heritage, craft and music trails.  Blueways are an opportunity for communities and commercial service providers to benefit from the economic and recreational potential of their water resource.The existing Shannon Blueway trails are being extended both West and South from Carrick On Shannon, and the new Shannon-Erne Blueway from Leitrim Village to Belturbet is also nearing completion. As a valued member of the Shannon – Erne area community we invite you to take part in one of the following  ‘Benefit from the Blueway’  workshop: 


Thursday 12th November 7:30 pm Slieve Russell Hotel, Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan

The Upper Shannon Erne Future Economy Project (USEFE), is supporting the development of the Shannon and the Shannon Erne Blueway.  The USEFE project is a partnership between Cavan, Leitrim, Longford & Roscommon Co. Councils, the ESB and Bord Na Mona with the support of Waterways Ireland. ILC has been appointed to support local community and commercial Blueway development capacity.
